Montgomery County Paranormal Society doesn’t subscribe to the theories that orbs are paranormal events. There is no scientific method to prove that orbs are spirit energy and what I’ve seen of some members of the paranormal community concerns me. I watch video blogs and read the paranormal forums a lot. The other day I saw a photo posted of an orb and automatically there was post like “you defiantly photographed spirit energy”. The question I ask is this why are groups using orbs as there only evidence and declaring a place haunted? I understand that scientific evidence published is the belief of the publisher to be fact but the person publishing scientific evidence must also give reasons why they came to that conclusion.

If we wish to legitimize our research we have to start presenting our evidence a fashion that the scientific community can understand. That means giving reason to why you conclude that a picture of an orb is “Spirit Energy” and not dust. I witnessed one persons attempt to explain himself by posting pictures of dust orbs and then his example of spirit orbs. The photographs all looked the same and he had shut off the ability to comment so I could not ask what about them was different. So the paranormal community is supposed to go by his word. I think that until a viable way of concluding what is dust and what is a spirit orbs, shouldn’t be used. Below is a link to an article explaining the reasons why orbs appear in photographs. I would defiantly like examples of evidence explaining how orbs are spirit energy because I can’t find any

http://www.theorbzone.com/FullOrbArticle.pdf

Using the label "Haunted" too lightly

When people label everything Haunted it starts to confuse people, people start to see paranormal as meaning haunted. Although a haunting is a paranormal event, a paranormal event doesn't mean a haunting.
The definition of paranormal is a subject that is beyond normal or scientific explanation. The example being this if a paranormal investigator captures an evp or a piece video of a door opening on its own accord, this isn't proof of a haunting. These examples are evidence of something paranormal because its beyond normal explanation but it does not mean that place is haunted. Paranormal groups and people in general have a tendency to want a place to be haunted so bad, or they think that if they're experiencing something strange that it is automatically haunted. There should be a lot of thought and discussion combined with extensive paranormal evidence for a group to reluctantly label a place haunted and this should be the standard throughout the study of this stuff. Saying this place is haunted should be hardest sentence in you vocabulary.

Lets look at why this is, how is an evp alone an example of a ghost or spirit? Its not because it could be something else did you see a spirit lean in and speak into a microphone, no you didn't so what was it that answered your question you don't know nobody knows so its paranormal not a ghost. That video of a door opening up on its own is that a sign of a ghost it must be right....wrong its not, did you see a ghost open that door, no you didn't so it becomes paranormal but not haunted.

Now your throwing your hands up in the air and saying that by my way of thinking nothing is haunted.
I'm not saying this, the point of this whole thing is to make the paranormal groups and people investigating to think first, if you captured a EVP don't say its a ghost, and if you look at that video of the door opening don't go and say it haunted. On the other hand if you captured an EVP at the same time the door opens up and the EMF detector spike have this happen a couple of times well then you just might have a ghost.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://montcoghosts.blogspot.com/2010/11/useing-label-haunted-too-lightly.html' title='Using the label "Haunted"
